just ask Grandma Betty.”
Grandma Betty, what kind of event is The Boychick Affair?
“Ooh… Harry’s Bar Mitzvah is quite the simcha, quite the affair. You’ll nosh, a beautiful spread, you’ll laugh and kibbitz a bit. You will enjoy every minute of it. Fashtay?”
Grandma Betty, what is the menu for the reception meal?
“Well, all the kinder know that my kneidelach is best, but you’ll have to come over another time for my soup. Here, you’ll get a nice piece of kosher-style chicken, sheyn mixed salad, rice, beans (good for the plumbing), chips, mild salsa and a variety of drinks. (I will try to convince Cheryl to get Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry.) Ooh, some fresh fruit and pound cake for dessert. Mir essen, darling. And Sunday matinee performances feature Glatt Kosher catered by Caraville Glatt, the new Essex on Coney!”
Grandma Betty, will wine or beer be available during Harry’s Bar Mitzvah?
“I enjoy a lovely cocktail from time to time, a nice glass of Manischewitz is a mitzvah on Shabbos. Aside from a Kiddush, there will be drinks available during the reception. Of course, Aaron made certain it was a cash bar for alcoholic beverages.”
Grandma Betty, how should I dress for Harry’s Bar Mitzvah?
“I suggest you dress as you would when going to any Bar Mitzvah. But let’s face it, Harry isn’t just anybody. He is my only grandson. After all, it isn’t everyday we get to celebrate such a simcha. Would I suggest a shmata? Of course not, but it isn’t what’s on the outside that matters. Just come to the party. We would love to see you.”

Trust me… this is quite a deal!”
